Everyone knows his music, but few know his artwork. Legendary musician John Lennon was one of the most prodigious music talents in the 20th century, but he was also a dedicated artist, dabbling in several mediums during his celebrated life.
Yoko Ono and The Partnership for Haddonfield present “We All Shine On,” a look into Lennon’s life through his own personal artwork. Art lovers will get a chance to see over 200 of his personal pieces on Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4, at 106 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield.
The opening night of the event is a week before Lennon’s birthday, October 9. The musician would have been 69 this year.
Held at the now closed Au Courant Boutique on the corner of Chestnut and Kings Highway, the three day exhibition will feature serigraphs, lithographs, copper etchings and aqua tints of Lennon’s drawings, signed by Yoko Ono including Song Lyrics and the “Real Love” children’s drawings sketched for his son Sean during the last few years of Lennon’s life.
Over 100 pieces of art created by Lennon, encompassing the years 1968 through 1980 will be featured. New releases, “Give Peace a Chance,” “Consult the Stars,” and “Turn Left & Make Peace,” will be on display.
For the past 16 years the artwork exhibit has toured the country, giving Lennon’s fans and artwork aficionados the chance to see a side of the famous musician few knew existed. This is the first time “We All Shine On” will be seen in south Jersey.
The internationally acclaimed exhibit includes the largest collection of Lennon’s work ever assembled.
In the spirit of Lennon, the event will raise funds for the Food Bank of South Jersey, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help eliminate hunger and malnutrition in the four counties of south Jersey. A $2 donation at the door is suggested for those attending the event.
The event will be open on Friday, Oct. 2 from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 3 from noon to 7 p.m.
